Official Transport Car Registrations

January 16th, 2012

It is a process of registering a car with the government body. This enables the authority to have a very clear image of to whom the car belongs and levy taxes on the owner of the car as per norms. The car registrations have a vehicle identification number, which is a special number or alphanumeric number which is issued by the motorcar industry. The car registrations number itself speaks out the region in which the car is registered. This entire number has to be displayed on a metal or plastic plate at the front and rear of the car whilst travelling on road.

This entire car registrations process is carried out by Regional Transport Office. The car registrations process is completed after the verification of the manufacturer, model, colour, and type of engine used, chassis number and finally the identity of the owner. Upon verification, the data is registered by the authority under whose jurisdiction area the car registrations take gaff. The registration certificate provided thereafter is valid for 15 years. There are generally two types of car registrations, permanent and temporary registration as per Central Motor Vehicles Rule. The registration helps to trace thefts, misusing of any car or tampering of registration documents.
